OT AUSTRALIA NSW is committed to protecting your privacy. In accordance with the amendments to the Privacy Act 1988, which came into effect on 21 December 2001, it complies with the National Privacy Principles set out in the Act. This policy outlines how OT AUSTRALIA NSW manages privacy protection of your personal information.

    To enable it to fulfil its responsibilities to the members of OT AUSTRALIA NSW and provide the required member services, OT AUSTRALIA needs to collect personal information. The personal information held by OT AUSTRALIA NSW may include your name, current home address and work address, home and work telephone and mobile phone numbers, email address, year of birth, qualifications, areas of practice and user login ip address on the OT AUSTRALIA NSW website.

    OT AUSTRALIA NSW uses this information to inform members of services, products and programs available, to facilitate services and benefits to members and to provide referrals to the public, collate general professional data, provide contacts for research purposes and similar activities. It uses an individual's OT AUSTRALIA NSW website activity information to facilitate service improvement, improve site security and to reduce unauthorised activity and service disruption.

    Members can nominate their preferred method for being contacted by OT AUSTRALIA NSW and its representatives.

    How is this information collected?
    OT AUSTRALIA NSW collects the information in person, in writing, by telephone, through the OT AUSTRALIA NSW website and by other electronic communication channels. Key demographic data is requested annually via the membership application or renewal forms.

    Who will see or have access to your personal information?

    • Health funds which seek clarification of membership status of private practitioners.
    • Members of focus groups who have access to work place details of members within their respective group.
    • Occupational therapists who have office bearing roles (Council and focus group contact people).
    • Occupational Therapists seeking work contact details from Reference Lists

    Written permission is sought every two years from members seeking their consent to have their individual work details disclosed to members who require expertise or mentoring activities.

    OT AUSTRALIA NSW information systems and files are secured from unauthorised access and our staff, contracted agents and service providers have been informed of the importance it places on protecting your privacy and their role in helping the Association do this. Membership data is not sold to any individual or organisation.

    What if I want to check what personal information OT AUSTRALIA NSW holds about me?
    Subject to any legal restrictions, OT AUSTRALIA NSW would be happy to advise you what personal information it holds about you if you request this. There may be some cost to you in providing this information if your request is complex or requires detailed searching of OT AUSTRALIA NSW records.

    If you believe there are errors in the OT AUSTRALIA NSW records about you, please let the Association know and the Secretariat staff will be happy to investigate and correct any inaccuracies.

    2. Non-personal information
