Locum Positions
A locum position provides temporary employment for a specified time. An organisation may need a therapist to temporarily fill a permanent position while an employee is on leave, or may have a vacant position awaiting a permanent appointment. The length of a locum position can vary from one week to one year. There are visa restrictions for therapists from overseas on the maximum time that may be worked in any one position.

Register of Locum Positions Available

OT AUSTRALIA NSW maintains a register of employers in NSW currently seeking locum occupational therapists. To have a position listed on the Register of Locum Postions Available, employers must provide brief details of the position to OT AUSTRALIA NSW by phone or email including:
  • Practice area - for example, general medical, rehabilitation, paediatrics, acute care
  • Locum start and finish date
  • Hours of work
  • Organisation name
  • Contact name and details (email or phone)

Positions listed on the Register of Locum Positions Available will remain listed for a four week period or unless OT AUSTRALIA NSW has been notified that the position has been filled prior to the end of the four week period.

The Register of Locum Positions Available is a public list. Information provided to OT AUSTRALIA NSW for the purposes of the Register of Locum Positions Available will be published on the OT AUSTRALIA NSW website and may be provided by OT AUSTRALIA NSW to all enquirers (by phone, fax, web and post).

Register of People Seeking Locum Work

OT AUSTRALIA NSW maintains a register of people currently seeking work in NSW as locum occupational therapists. To be listed on the Register of People Seeking Locum Work, a person must be ready to commence work and provide brief details of their experience to OT AUSTRALIA NSW by phone including:
  • Areas of experience - for example, general medical, rehabilitation, paediatrics, acute care
  • Number of practice years as an occupational therapist
  • Contact name and details (email or phone)

People listed on this register will remain listed for a four week period. If contact has not been made before the end of this period their name will be removed.
