Portable Document Fomat (PDF)

OT AUSTRALIA NSW uses Portable Document Fomat (PDF) for documents that need to retain a specific format for viewing or printing.

To read and/or print PDF documents users need to have PDF reader software installed on their computer. Click on this test PDF document. If the document opens up and can be read, then a PDF reader is installed and working on your computer.

PDF Readers can be downloaded free of charge on the internet. The PDF reader most commonly used is Adobe Acrobat which can be downloaded here.

Often, PDF documents may seem to take a long time to appear in your browser window. This is because PDF documents usually have more than one page and can have many hundreds of pages.

When clicking a link to a PDF document, users may sometimes be asked to choose between opening or downloading the PDF document. If the file is a large one (above 1MB on a dialup internet connection or 3MB to 5MB on an ISDN, Cable or ADSL connection) downloading the file can often improve the performance of your PDF reader. Users choosing to download a PDF document need to remember where they have saved it on their computer and manually open the file to read.
