Mentoring Resources

MentorLink

MentorLink is a facilitated mentoring program for occupational therapists, co-ordinated by OT AUSTRALIA Victoria. The program is now available to occupational therapists working in both the public and private sectors throughout Australia. MentorLink aims to provide practitioners with peer support tailored to their professional development and performance needs, improve job satisfaction and build mentoring skills within the occupational therapy profession. By participating in the MentorLink program (as a mentor or mentee) you can claim points in ‘Category 3 Mentoring’ towards your Accredited Occupational Therapist Program CPD Points requirements. OT AUSTRALIA NSW is currently exploring aspects of mentoring/coaching/supervision programs and resources for members. In the interim, the following resources may be of assistance.

OT AUSTRALIA NSW Occupational Therapy Reference Group
OT AUSTRALIA NSW maintains a register of occupational therapists who have expressed an interest in being available to advise other therapists and comment on and/or contribute to professional issues and concerns in occupational therapy. Members can make contact with Reference Group members through the Secretariat.

MentorLink-Allied Health (Victoria)
Initially established in 1999 by OT AUSTRALIA Victoria as the MentorLink program, MentorLink-Allied Health (Victoria)is a Facilitated Mentoring Program currently open to occupational therapists, physiotherapists and podiatrists working in both the public and private sectors across Melbourne and rural Victoria. While access to the program is limited to Victorian therapists, resources related to mentoring activities are available on the MentorLink-Allied Health (Victoria) website.

OT AUSTRALIA Queensland
General information about mentoring and guidelines for mentoring activities are provided on the OT AUSTRALIA Queensland website.

OT AUSTRALIA National
The OT AUSTRALIA National Policy Paper on Mentoring / Supervision as Continuing Professional Development Activities in the Accredited Occupational Therapist Program is available for download on the OT AUSTRALIA National website.

NSW Office of the Director of Equal Opportunity in Public Employment
Provides information about mentoring and is the publisher of the free booklet Mentoring Made Easy A Practical Guide (2nd edition).
This booklet aims to assist people wishing to introduce mentoring programs in their organisations. Women in Business Mentor Program
The Women in Business Mentor Program is a business development initiative funded by the NSW Department of State and Regional Development. The Department is the NSW Government's business development agency and offers a range of programs to support business growth. The Program assists emerging women business owners (mentorees) to grow their business by linking them with experienced business people (mentors). Using a combination of mentoring and practical sessions, the Program assists women to improve their business skills and confidence, foster networking and successfully manage business growth.
